The Savage Shame that is Trump's New Budget Plan.

America is caught in a very dangerous cycle of escalating extremism. It appears that each new administration is going to instantly make it their business to undo all the changes made by the last one. This is business as usual by now and not a surprise to anyone. What is surprising, however, is the sheer scope of the cruelty implicit in the pages of that budget plan. No matter how the Donald Trumps of the world may disagree, human life is NOT worth only as much as it can put out in labor power. We have a right to exist, and it benefits the State immensely to care for its infirm. Franklin Roosevelt said that the State should accept this task cheerfully, as only by means of this will people ever learn to love the State. The government, for all that it is hated and reviled by radicals on the far left and right, is in reality the only guardian we have against the forces of big business and organized capitalism. No other power in the land is strong enough to call it to account. That power is on the verge of dissipation, because our chief executive is busily attacking its base. The regulations put in place to protect the environment, and us little people, have never been regarded as anything but a nuisance by Trump. His loyalties are with his fellow billionaires, and we are left to fend for ourselves against this onslaught. That budget plan represents all the worst of the nastiness and selfishness mankind has to offer. Old people, poor people, disabled people, immigrated people- all of them are thrown under the bus to an extent so total that one would would scarcely be exaggerating, to say that the President wants to murder his own base. We must all remain vigilant and do what we can to see to it that this evil plot never hatches, and instead is consigned to the rancid toilet of history. It would stink up the dustbin.
